TC Windows Phone 8S review

The HTC Windows Phone 8S is the second plan Windows Phone 8 handset we've perceived, and goes up opposite the Nokia Lumia 620. The telephone looks and feels extremely much like the more costly HTC
Windows Phone 8X.

get HTC Windows Phone 8S only for $49.99

Its elastic back enlarges adjust to the sides of the telephone, so its straightforward to hold and may as well survive the odd tumble. It doesn’t feel as grandly built as Nokia's Windows 8 handsets, however its a long ways from the creaky plastic you get on some shabbier Android telephones.
Similar to the Lumia 620, the HTC 8S has a marginally chopped-down determination contrasted with the towering-closure Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X.
You get 512MB RAM as a substitute for 1GB and a 1GHz double-center processor rather than a 1.5GHz model.
We did notice the pace shortfall, because of an incidental slight stutter when opening requisitions. It's nothing major, however as Windows Phone is ordinarily so velvety the stoppage is more recognizable.

The telephone's slower exhibition is moreover borne out in our Sunspider JavaScript benchmark, as it and the Lumia finished the test in around 1,400ms, while the 1.5GHz models drifted around the 900ms imprint. We had few objections regarding the 8S's screen. Its 800x480 determination is superbly adequate for a 4in model, and while blacks weren't as profound as on AMOLED screens we’d viewed, symbols, virtual spaces and pictures were all satisfying to the eye. Notwithstanding, when we put it alongside the Lumia 620 we might see that Nokia's screen was predominant, with additional soaked colours and higher most extreme brilliance.
We've secured the fundamental qualities of Windows Phone 8 heretofore, yet in short it offers the lot you'd want from a current cell phone working framework. It's quick, attractive, has an able browser and superb message customer, and makes it straightforward to make and alter Office reports. Your records and photographs will synchronize programmedly with SkyDrive, too; while this still isn't as effortless to utilize as sync aids for example Dropbox, it works well with Windows 8's Skydrive application and is especially handy for altering Office records in your net browser. There's one key thing absent from Windows Phone 8, even now, and that is application help. While the number of applications is expanding every last trace of the time, we're still missing some vital ones.
There's no official Dropbox customer, for instance, no Sky+, no Sonos, no Rightmove, no Spotify and no iPlayer. While applications aren’t the whole lot, and the managing framework's center qualities work well, provided that you depend on any of these aids the absence of backing can be a dealbreaker.

budget Windows Phone 8 handset with a good camera, but Nokia's Lumia 620 rival takes the crown

The phone doesn’t have a huge amount of room for apps, anyway, as there's just 4GB of storage built in, compared to 8GB on the Lumia 620. There is a microSD card slot for further expansion, however. Unlike on Nokia's handsets, you don’t get Nokia's superb free app suite, with its useful free offline navigation and music apps. Instead, you get the HTC app, which gives you weather, stocks and news, a converter app, a flashlight and a photo enhancer app, which adds effects to your photos. It's not a patch on Nokia's offering, unfortunately.

One area where the HTC 8S pulls ahead of the Lumia 620 is its camera. It's a five-megapixel model, and we found it captured significantly more detail in outdoor shots, with far less obvious noise reduction. However, we found it harder to capture sharp shots under indoor lighting than on Nokia's handset.
Before the Lumia 620 came along, we were preparing to give the HTC Windows Phone 8S a Budget Buy award, thanks to its pleasing design, good camera and low SIM-free price. However, Nokia's Lumia 620 just edges ahead thanks to its more fun design and excellent free apps.
